Turkey’s first exhibition of “Body Worlds: The Circle of Life” was already 2010 in Istanbul. More than 400,000 visitors had visited it. Among the visitors were students from across the country as well as officials such as President Abdullah Gul.

According to curator Dr. Angelina Whalley, the exhibition shows “the circle of birth and death – how the body changes as he grows, matures, and eventually get weaker. The individual stages of the development of the body and its changes over time – beginning at conception high into old age – are vividly represented. “

The scientist, Dr. Gunther von Hagnes developed the method of plastination in 1977. By the withdrawal of fluids and fats of the body and replacing those with plastics he produced anatomical specimens for scientific and medical studies.
