Visa-free travel for Turkish citizens into the EU’s Schengen zone
Turkish citizens will be allowed visa-free access to continental Europe as part of a deal which could see the country join the EU in exchange for helping with the migrant crisis.
EU leaders signed a deal meaning that Ankara will take back deported migrants from European countries in exchange for visa restrictions to be lifted.
For visa-free visits to European countries in the Schengen zone, Turkish citizens will need to replace their current passports. The new ones will contain biometric data of the owner, including fingerprints.
Visa-free travel provides the opportunity for turkish citizens to access the Schengen zone up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
